Houston, January 1, 2017 — The Woman’s Hospital of Texas and Dr. Cindy-Thanhhoa Bui helped Zain Sanjak and her husband Omar Naboulsi welcome their son into the world at 12:09 a.m. on January 1, 2017. Baby Karim was the first baby born at The Woman’s Hospital of Texas in the New Year. He weighed 7 lbs. and 3 oz. and is 20 and ½ inches long.
“As we come to the midpoint of our yearlong celebration of The Woman’s Hospital of Texas’ 40th anniversary, we are thrilled to also be ringing in the new year for the 40th time with a celebration of the first baby born at our hospital,” said Ashley McClellan, CEO of The Woman’s Hospital of Texas. “And in honor of our 40 Years of Caring, we decided to make the celebration bigger.”
The Woman’s Hospital of Texas recognized the baby and the first baby of the opposite sex born at the hospital on New Year’s Day. The families of the first girl and the first boy born each received an embroidered diaper bag and an embroidered hooded towel to commemorate this memory of a lifetime.
Dr. Joanie Y. Hare assisted Lori Bertolet and her husband Grant Bertolet in welcoming the first girl born at Woman’s in 2017. More than 12 hours after the first baby was born – and the births of 7 more boys – the first girl of 2017 was delivered at 12:43 p.m. at Woman’s. Baby Pandora weighs 6lbs. and 15oz. and is 19 inches long.
To all of the families who chose The Woman’s Hospital of Texas to welcome a new baby last year, thank you for entrusting us with your care. For two years in a row, we have delivered more babies in Texas than any other hospital in the state.
